Sogestalt Télévision Québec is a national leader in the design
and production of television series and special entertainment events. Over the years,
the broad array of prizes awarded to Sogestalt testifies to the high quality of its
productions (awards and nominations), and its
widely-recognized expertise in the entertainment field.
Over the past quarter century, Sogestalt has delivered more than 1,000
hours of television programming, including such series as Phylactère
Cola, Le plaisir croît avec l’usage, Samedi
de Rire and Samedi PM, as well as a galaxy of timely specials
starring the greatest artists in Quebec song and stage, from Lise Dion
to Yvon Deschamps, Isabelle Boulay to Gilles Vigneault,
Diane Dufresne to Félix Leclerc.
One of Sogestalt’s most prestigious recent productions,
L’Odyssée, was broadcast live by Radio-Canada.
Sogestalt is also renowned for its unique expertise in the production
of special programming such as Culture
en direct (2000), De
concert avec le Saguenay (1996) and Tous unis contre le sida (1996)
– all broadcast live simultaneously on Radio-Canada Television, TVA, TQS,
Télé-Québec and TV5. Sogestalt also excels in producing major
events such as Mission Apollo pour la Communauté des
télévisions francophones, recorded at the legendary Apollo Theater in
Harlem and broadcast on Radio-Canada, Radio-Québec, Antenne 2, FR3, RTBF and
TSR, and the Opening Ceremonies of the IVe Jeux de la francophonie,
live from Lansdowne Park in Ottawa.
Sogestalt has also produced many documentaries, including: Jean Lapointe
– Les sentiers de ma vie, a series of four one-hour shows on the life
and career of this major artist; Notre Père, chronicling
Father Emmet Johns on his daily mission to reach out to street kids; Humour
P.Q., a funny and educational 10-part series hosted by former Rock
et Belles Oreilles member André Ducharme; and La dépression
et le suicide
chez les jeunes and Sortir de l’ombre.
Over the past 12 years, Sogestalt has produced some of the most important
galas in the Quebec cultural industry, including La Soirée
des masques in the world of theatre (1994-1999), Les Oliviers in
comedy (1999-2001) and La Soirée des Jutras in film (1999-present).
Since 1992, Sogestalt has produced the wildly popular Le Show du
Refuge. This Radio-Canada — Sogestalt Télévision
Québec co-production, recorded first at the Spectrum and later
at Metropolis, was moved to prestigious Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier in Place
des Arts last year. Led by Dan Bigras, this annual tradition gathers
the biggest names in Quebec culture in support of Refuge des jeunes,
a shelter dedicated to young men 17-24 who are homeless or in crisis.
In 2001, the show was awarded the Prix Gémeaux for Best Variety Program.
In 2001, Sogestalt began producing a series of riotous comedy programs
filmed at the Grand Théâtre de Québec, part of the
Festival du Grand Rire de Québec, presenting dozens of established
and up-and-coming talents.
Les FrancoFolies de Montréal, a series of shows filmed during
the annual FrancoFolies de Montréal festival, has brought the best
in francophone artists to television since 1997.
A president and producer who has made his mark
Impresario, producer and agent in the fields of music and comedy,
Guy Latraverse has represented the greatest Québécois
and French performers (in Canada) since the early ‘60s, including
Robert Charlebois, Yvon Deschamps, Diane Dufresne,
Jean Lapointe, Claude Léveillée, Charles Aznavour,
Petula Clark, Julien Clerc, Léo Ferré and
Raymond Devos. A founding member of the Association québécoise
de l'industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo (ADISQ), he was
its president from 1980-1981 and produced its very first Gala.
Guy Latraverse is also co-founder of Les FrancoFolies de Montréal and
has served as its vice-president since 1989.
Above and beyond his involvement with the stage, Guy Latraverse has
spent the years since 1974 pouring his immense knowledge and talent
into producing television programming, concentrating his energies in
this arena since 1985.
The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television recognized the exceptional
contribution of Guy Latraverse at its 1999 Gemini Awards, honouring
him for his excellence in television production. His 40-year career
was celebrated in memorable fashion by the cultural community at the
Théâtre Corona.
Along with his professional activities, Mr. Latraverse has distinguished
himself through his volunteer efforts as president of REVIVRE (Association québécoise de
soutien aux personnes souffrant de troubles anxieux, dépressifs ou bipolaires)
since 1992. He was awarded the Prix Hommage bénévolat Québec 2004
for his remarkable devotion to volunteer work.
Moreover, in October 2003, Guy Latraverse was named a Chevalier de
l’Ordre national du Québec. The Ordre national du Québec
is the highest conferred distinction in Quebec, emphasizing the exceptional
character of the achievements and contributions to the quality of Quebec
life by those persons deemed to merit inclusion in its ranks.
